The Assistant Controller’s chief tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Reconcile and/or oversee all G/L accounts
  • Reconcile and/or oversee bank account reconciliation
  • Reconcile loan payments and maintain loan schedules and spreadsheets
  • Monitor cash flow and project funding requirements
  • Manage cash applications and billing accuracy
  • Fixed assets management & reporting
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the general ledger, including fixed assets and lease accounting (ASC 842).
  • Prepare and/or oversee various reporting of federal, state, and local tax
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements
  • Assist with annual financial audits
  • Prepare and or oversee various management reports
  • Oversee the operation of accounting activities for all entities
  • Develop and maintain documentation system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk and to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization
  • Oversee production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international financial reporting standards
  • Work with external auditors and provide needed information for annual audits
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local government requirements
  • Provide guidance on accounting matters and cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment with GAAP and business objectives.
  • Produce lease schedules according to ASC 842
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned

Required skills:
  • Excellent management and supervisory skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management
  • Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with large ERP systems, accounting tools, and advanced Excel; experience with Vista/Viewpoint accounting software is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • Ten years or more of related experience required
  • Construction industry experience is a plus.
